The famous pizza delivery service Domin’s has entered a new partnership with Uber Eats, providing more options for consumers to place their orders. It means that delivery drivers will be dispatched by Domino’s regardless of how customers order their food.
Over the last few months, the pizza chain has found a way to evolve its ordering process by updating how consumers can get hold of their favorite pizza. In the latest update to its operation, the company has set up an exclusive partnership with Uber Eats and Postmates.
It means that customers can place their orders on either platform’s app, but it will still be delivered by Domino’s employees. In comparison, before the partnership, Domino’s was only available for delivery via the company’s own website, app, or directly from the store itself.
Domino’s says that it will be working with Uber Eats until at least 2024 and its delivery drivers will handle all parts of the delivery and dropoff. However, consumers will still have access to other services offered by Uber Eats of Postmates, like order tracking and updates.
To start with, Domino’s will run the scheme in four regions, starting later this year. By the end of the year, it will be expanded across the US and to some other countries.
CEO Russell Weiner said in a statement: “Our research in the U.S. and learnings from 13 of our international markets have shown us that taking orders using the Uber Eats Marketplace provides access for Domino’s and its franchisees to a new segment of customers and what we believe will be a meaningful amount of incremental delivery orders once it’s widely available.
Given certain customers only order their delivery from the Uber Eats app, this deal could make Domino’s available to millions of new customers around the world. Domino’s will still be the face consumers see at the door, while Uber will be providing us with adequate data to understand delivery efficiency and incrementality.”
